Program
presented by Rusty Williams, author
The Dallas Woman’s Forum March 22nd Member’s Meeting will feature writer-historian, Rusty Williams. Rusty writes about history through the stories of the people who lived it. His latest book is Deadly Dallas: A History of Unfortunate Incidents and Grisly Fatalities (The History Press, 2021), stories of the surprising perils of city life at the turn of the twentieth century.
About Deadly Dallas:
Runaway livestock, untrustworthy elevators, collapsing buildings, and exploding boilers. These are only some of the unexpected hazards of city life at the turn of the twentieth century. Rusty will tell the stories of individuals who didn’t fare well at a time when technologies were shifting, and Dallas was experiencing explosive growth. Darkly humorous and sometimes tragic, these stories provide a rarely thought of glimpse into the past.
More About Rusty Williams:
Rusty is the author of five nonfiction books, four on Texas topics.
Rusty is also the author of Red River Bridge War: A Texas-Oklahoma Border Battle (Texas A&M Press, 2016), My Old Confederate Home: A Respectable Place for Civil War Veterans (University Press of Kentucky, 2011), and Historic Photos of Dallas in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s (Turner, 2010). He regularly speaks to historical societies, book groups, and cultural gatherings and writes articles for historical magazines and journals.
