May 2024 Member Meeting – Program by Tracy Walder, Former CIA & FBI Agent
The Dallas Woman’s Forum was honored to welcome the delightful Tracy Walder, Former CIA & FBI Agent, for our May 2024 Member Program and Luncheon. The meeting took place at the Alexander Mansion in Dallas, Texas.
Tracy shared her experience being recruited into the CIA during her senior year of college, and some of her experiences while an agent. Because the CIA duties required her to be out of the country the majority of the time, she decided to move to the FBI, which is U.S. based. Tracy talked about the challenges she encountered with that move, as well as her involvement with politicians to obtain mental health care for CIA and FBI employees to deal with stress and PTSD related to the job.
Having written a book, The Unexpected Spy, about her experiences in the CIA and FBI, Tracy described the lengthy process she went through to obtain approval from the government to publish her memoirs, during that time of her life. The program was fascinating and informative.
