On May 15, 2024 the Alexander Mansion in Dallas, Texas was filled with Dallas Woman’s Forum members and guests celebrating the 120th Birthday of the Mansion. During this momentous occasion, the newly restored mosaic tile floor at the Carriage Entrance was unveiled.

In her remarks to the assembled guests, DWF President, Barbara Cervantes, had these words of appreciation:

“First of all, we’d like to thank Summerlee Foundation, whose generous grant allowed us to turn what had become a bit of an eyesore, into a remarkably beautiful piece of art! We also thank Cheryl Reynolds who prepared and submitted the grant request to Summerlee and those DWF members who donated money toward a bag of tiles even before the Summerlee grant was awarded!

This project would not have gotten off the ground if it hadn’t been for the diligent work of Holly Hall. Not only did she find the amazing Sarah, but prior to that, she had been collecting the loose tile pieces, hoping the day would come when they could be reunited with their tile friends and find their way back home on the floor!

Finally, the woman of the hour – Sarah Wandrey! If you have spent any time with Sarah, you know that this is not just a JOB, this is a true calling! Sarah had the talent and resources to create a plan and then execute it flawlessly. Without her genius and creativity, the puzzle pieces would never have come together and we would not be here to celebrate this historical renovation, along with this milestone 120th birthday!”

Thank you to Sarah Wandrey and her talented team for their hard work on the beautiful restoration of the mosaic floor. Please visit Sarah Wandrey Mosaics to view more of Sarah’s work.
