Fashioning Dallas

When listing fashion capitals, we often think of Paris and New York – but what about Dallas?  Through the twentieth century, Dallas blossomed into one of the largest fashion industry hubs in the United States.  Through a unique combination of manufacturers, designers, and retailers, Dallas shaped not only regional but national fashion markets.  Learn more about some of these innovators – ranging from taste-making department store Neiman Marcus to ground-breaking designer-manufacturer Page Boy Maternity to genre-defying designer Todd Oldham – all through the world-class holdings of the Texas Fashion Collection.

About our Speaker

Annette Becker is an arts educator and dress historian.  She serves as the director of the Texas Fashion Collection, an archive of nearly 20,000 garments and accessories housed within the University of North Texas College of Visual Arts and Design.

The lunch is on the main floor of the Alexander Mansion. There is an accessible ramp on the right hand side of the front porch.
